Portugal is one of the most fascinating countries in Europe, capable of seducing all tourists who choose it as their holiday destination. By renting a car it will take a week to see the main attractions, but if you can afford some extra time you can actually make a few more stops along the way.

With so many beautiful destinations and panoramic roads, shaping an itinerary for your holiday in Portugal can be hard. We have created four itineraries by car in Portugal to help you discovering the best of this country.

The most completed itinerary involves a classic tour of two weeks through the main cities, the picturesque villages, and the Algarve coast with its breathtaking beaches.

One week itinerary is enough to explore Lisbon and its surroundings, like the Queluz Palace and the fairy town of Sintra.

If you prefer avoiding the capital city, we recommend one week itinerary in northern Portugal, starting from the beautiful city of Porto, which has nothing on Lisbon.

Do you feel like going on a more original itinerary off the beaten path? We have created a ten days itinerary among villages and castles in Central Portugal, where you will visit the most famous cities like Lisbon and Coimbra, as well as many traditional villages which are often ignored by mass tourism; you will feel like living in a timeless atmosphere.

How to move during the tour

The main cities, Lisbon and Porto, can be visited on foot or by public transport, but by renting a car upon arrival at the airport you will be free to move around; don’t waste any time, turn the engine and start your unforgettable adventure!
